Join our team and help make this summer a memorable and impactful experience for our students! Both full-time and part-time temporary positions are available, with flexible shifts and dates from June to August 2026.
About our Program: Outreach Short Courses aim to offer students ages 12-22, who are blind or visually impaired the opportunity to participate in a variety of academic, social, and recreational activities while receiving instruction in critical areas of the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC). Students in the program reside in dormitory-style living for the duration of the program and are responsible for managing their independent living routines, personal space, meal preparation, and other elements involved in living with a group. These courses provide a safe, supportive, and comfortable environment in which students are challenged to develop new skills, build positive peer relationships, and develop confidence through experiences.

Teaching Assistant (AM/PM, weekdays and weekends)

Varying shifts from 7 a.m. -10 p.m. Pay rate $20.56 per hour for Teaching Assts., Job Coaches
TVI's, O&M, VRT - Hourly Sub Summer rate $38.07 per hour
Responsibilities:
You will provide instruction, supervision, and support services in your area of expertise for individuals or groups of mainstream students who are blind, visually impaired, and who have multiple impairments. In addition, the following may be required of all full time direct service teaching staff:
Lesson plan development and material/resource gathering in advance of the program.
Work with students on campus, at job sites, in classes, at meals, and in the community.
Attendance at regular staff meetings to be held after classes end.
Attendance at staff orientation training and student orientation. (Prior to Programs)
Attendance at cottage/program cleanup, and final staff meeting.
Reports and/or checklists must be written prior to the program’s conclusion and will require additional meeting time.
Accommodations:
Limited number of beds, in a shared living environment, available on the Perkins campus.
Housing is in exchange for additional unpaid duties. Individuals will be responsible for their own food shopping, laundry, and the upkeep of the living space. Individuals who would like to be considered to live on campus should indicate so on their application.
The following shared salary range is what Perkins reasonably expects, in good faith, to pay for the position. The applicable range could differ based on experience and qualification.
$15.48-$21.86
