The Sherlock Center has 30 years of experience supporting the disability community in Rhode Island. Founded at Rhode Island College in 1993, the center is a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). UCEDDs are evidence driven and designed to advance policies, practices and research that improve the health, education, social and economic well-being of people with disabilities, their families and their communities.
We are seeking a Vision Services Coordinator to lead the Rhode Island Vision Services Program, which provides direct instruction and consultative services to students between the ages of 3 and 22 who are blind, visually impaired and/or multi-impaired within the school environment.
The coordinator will oversee the statewide census of children with visual impairments in Rhode Island, supervise TVIs and O&M specialists, coordinate professional development, analyze service data and collaborate with multiple state agencies. The position also includes program evaluation and management of federal quota funds.
Qualifications include a master’s degree in education or related field and valid RI Building Administrator and/or District Level Administrator: Special Education Certification, or at least three years of experience implementing and managing programs of children with special education needs.
